Most photographed generation ever

When I was a young girl one of my favorite things was to get out the old shoebox under my moms bed and look at the box full of photos. Photos that were never good enough to go in albums, but treasures. Of people I had never met, of my Mom and Aunt being silly and applying heavy 70's make up to my Dad while he napped, I am sure after a few beers, in the sun, of me on the potty, why do parents love taking those photos?

It is said that we are the most photographer generation ever, we are constantly shoot everything, our meals, our nails, our kids, clothes in shoes, labels, shoes, notes, it goes on and on, but we hardly ever print those photos. It is said that only 1 in 100 000 photos gets printed now days. Read that again 1 in 100 000. WOW! I personally have thousands and thousands of photos somewhere online, and with a lot of effort I can find ones i am looking for, sometimes, but what about the ones I forgot? And what if I want a specific photo? Like from when my daughter was 3 years old, or the time I met up with a old friend, who is now sadly dead? We have no organization on our lost in cyberspace photos. We think we have access to them all the time, but it is only on a device and only if we remember how to find them.

The other day I randomly found I had a moonfruit website, moonfruit??? I would never have remembered that! I think I used it for a week, but in that week I put photos on there that I would not remember, and never see again.

So many of my clients want disk of their photos, so they get a disk, and put it in the drawer, and never look at it, until technology moves on and that cd is like those floppy disks we have in the other drawer....

And the memory cards, oh and mini hard drives, lol I thought they would be my permanent backups, they got corrupted. So many slices of my life, of my children's lives, my late mother, my friends, my memories are on those old storage devices.....

This generation, of instagram, facebook, twitter, etc, etc shares everything, loves photos of everything, but when last have you printed a photo? yes today you took a selfie, but it's been 10 years since you printed a photo, a photo that you could hold in your hand, put on a wall, and have for a very very long time.

I already have a number of old cell phone lying in a drawer with photos I never "shared", never printed and never will, memories I am throwing away, guess they weren't that important.....

Had similar conversation with my Mum this morning. So many photos that don't get printed, and could potentially be lost!
